Born in Brasilia, daughter of the composer and conductor Claudio Santoro and choreographer Gisèle Santoro, she began her dance studies at the age of 7 with her mother in Germany. At the age of 16 years she joined the Ballet do Theatro Municipal Rio de Janeiro. She participated in various courses in Brazil and abroad (USA, France, Germany, Italy), obtained in 1982 a scholarship of 2 years of the Soviet Government for the State Choreographic School of Ballet of Kiev, where she worked under the personal guidance of Galina Kirilova (1st Dancer of Kirov Ballet and student of A. Vaganova). Represented Brazil in the I and II Latin American Dance Galas in Asunción, Paraguay. (86 and 88).
She received from the Brazilian government an Improvement Scholarship to research classic repertoire in important world centers, such as Staatliche Ballettschule Berlin (under the guidance of Prof. Martin Puttke), Centro di Studi della Danza in Torino (under the guidance of Susanna Egri) and at the Akademie des Tanzes of the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Heidelberg-Mannheim, of which she was later a teacher for 3 years, being responsible for the Repertory class. Soloist of the Nationaltheater Mannheim (Germany) until 1991 and (from 1992 to 2005) 1st Dancer at the Theater Magdeburg and teacher at the Theater Magdeburg Ballet School. Contemplated with the Prize of Encouragement to Young Artists, created to
honour the most outstanding personality in each area (Dance, Music, Theater) of the Theater Magdeburg. She choreographed innumerable ballets for the Ballet School and the Ballet of Theater Magdeburg, such as Stabat Mater (Pergolesi), Klavierkonzert (Santoro), Dichterliebe (Schumann). She has participated as a teacher, soloist and assistant director of the International Dance Seminary of Brasilia (from 1991 to 2015).
Among her repertoire are: Giselle (Giselle and Myrtha), Don Quixote (Kitri and Mercedes), The Nutcracker (Marie), Sleeping Beauty (Lilac Fairy), Paquita; several Grand Pas de Deux of the international repertoire, as well as Pas de Deux of creators of our time, like Uwe Scholz and MacMillan; contemporary choreographies(creations) by Irene Schneider, Joachim Gerster and Carlos Vilán. In 1998, she achieved an exceptional success dancing Alma, at the world premiere of the opera Alma by Claudio Santoro, at
the II Manaus Festival. Indicated Citizen of the Year 2002 of Magdeburg, for her work in dance. She was
founder, director and organizer of the International Festival of Dance Schools, held from 2000 to 2004 in the city of Magdeburg (Germany). In 2004, she was invited to direct, together with Irene Schneider, the production of "Swan Lake" at the Theater Magdeburg. She choreographed in 2006 "Letters of Mozart", production with Lilian Barreto, for first ballerina of Kirov Maya Dumchenko - CCBB Brasilia and Sala Cecília Meireles Rio de Janeiro. In 2007, she choreographed the 2nd act of "Nutcracker " for the closing of the International Dance Seminar with OSTNCS, and 2007 the full version invited by Dalva Lazaroni, secretary of culture of Duque de Caxias (Rio de Janeiro). In 2008, she was invited as scenic director of the Opera "The Magic Flute" by Maestro Silvio Barbato, carried out by the project SESC Sinfonia Brasília.
In 2011, "The Nutcracker" for "Arte.Dança" Florianópolis and 2012 she was choreography assistant of the version of Yelena Pankova's "Sleeping Beauty" for the National Theater of Croatia, Split. She was also responsible for the choreography of the Opera "Carmen" at the II and III Brasilia Opera Festival (2012 and 2013). She choreographed "The Nutcracker" at the invitation of OSTNCS in 2012. She staged 2013 "Swan Lake" with OSTNCS for the closing of the XXIII and "Paquita" for the XXIV International Dance Seminar in Brasília, in 2014. In 2015, the cinema director Marcus Ligocki Júnior invited her to choreograph the dance scenes for the movie "After you".
Invited guest teacher in Brazil by Cisne Negro Dance Company, Deborah Colker Dance Company, Niterói City Ballet and Theatro Municipal Rio de Janeiro, where in 2007, 2008, 2013 and 2016 she was responsible for the staging of "Swan Lake "in the version of Yelena Pankova. She was also guest teacher at the English National Ballet School, Oper Leipzig, Oper Hannover, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Mainfranken Theater Würzburg, Theater Nordhausen, Balletschule der
Wiener Staatsoper and National Theater of Croatia Split. Bachelor in International Relations, in which she received the Academic Láurea from the University Center IESB 2015, Gisèle Santoro is the director and choreographer of the Ballet Jovem de Brasília and teaches classical ballet and repertoire since 2009 at the National Theater Claudio Santoro. Always seeking excellence in the professional and academic formation of the students, preparing them for competitions and national and international auditions, she collaborates with community and social projects of the city. She concluded her master's degree in Dance Pedagogy at Palucca Hochschule für Tanz Dresden / Germany where she was later a Artistic Associate under the direction of Jason Beechey. Ms Santoro is currently Dance Pedagogue at the Ginasiano Escola de Dança Porto / Portugal.
